Jacqueline Julianna Butzinger is a composer, sound director & creative programmer working in the fields of electroacoustic and experimental music. In her work, she explores the intersection of sound and technology, creating multi-channel sound pieces, installations and performances, often utilizing self-built electronics, custom soft- and hardware and hybrid electro-acoustic instrumental setups.
As a composer, Jacqueline is deeply interested in alternate tuning systems, interferences, and pattern-based algorithmic processes. Her work spans from purely synthetic pieces, using sine waves and noise, to complex hybrids of acoustic and electronic elements. She is particularly drawn to the spatiality and physicality of sound, often designing systems that allow sound to move and shift within a physical space.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Musicinformatics from the "Hochschule für Musik" in Karlsruhe and a Master of Music in Electroacoustic Composition from the "Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler" in Berlin, where she studied under Prof. Wolfgang Heiniger. Her work has been performed at the ZKM Karlsruhe, the "Beethoven Haus" in Bonn, Freerotation Festival, Klangwerkstatt Festival in Berlin and the Academy of the Arts in Berlin. Since 2023 she is holder of the sholarship by the "Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes".
As a creative programmer and sound director she has worked with composers and instrumentalists from the contemporary classical and experimental electronic scenes, realising works with live electronics and programming audiovisual installations. Additionally she enjoys interdisciplinary collaboration and has worked with choreographers, visual artists and interaction designer to explore the interdisciplinary potential of computer vision systems, ai, motion tracking etc.
